Prince Edward Island Section 91 Vehicle Appraisal Disputes
Prince Edward Island’s Insurance Act contains an appraisal framework for insurance contracts that include a condition requiring specified disagreements to be determined by appraisal.
Section 91 Describes Disinterested Appraisers and an Umpire
Section 91 applies to qualifying contracts with appraisal conditions. It calls for each party to select a disinterested appraiser and for the two appraisers to select a competent, disinterested umpire.
“The appraisal shall be made by two disinterested appraisers”Prince Edward Island Insurance Act, Section 91(2)
Important distinction: Section 91 is conditional on the insurance contract. It does not itself prove that every automobile or liability dispute is subject to that process.

- Vehicle identification, exact model and trim, options, kilometres and condition
- Listings or other evidence that genuinely match the subject vehicle
- Documentation of material repairs, upgrades or disputed deductions
