2013 Audi A4 Allroad Total-Loss Appraisal
An in-person appraisal where condition, wagon configuration and relevant comparable selection were central to the valuation review.
Figures are shown as documented in this case. Taxes, deductibles, salvage and other settlement components are not included in an arithmetic comparison unless expressly stated.

The Assignment
The owner contacted IA Reports after questioning whether the total-loss valuation of their 2013 Audi A4 Allroad properly reflected the vehicle's condition and market position. IA Reports arranged an in-person appraisal in Ontario.
The Vehicle
The Audi presented in excellent condition and had been well maintained, with additional work completed by the owner. The Allroad also required the correct market context: its wagon configuration distinguishes it from more common Audi A4 variants.
The Valuation Issue
A meaningful valuation needed to consider the actual Allroad being appraised rather than treating every Audi A4 as an interchangeable comparison. Condition, configuration, equipment and the availability of relevant wagon comparables all formed part of the analysis.
Evidence Reviewed
- In-person vehicle condition documentation.
- Vehicle specification and configuration.
- Relevant maintenance and work information supplied for the file.
- Comparable market listings.
- Available valuation information from the insurance claim.
Our Appraisal Approach
IA Reports attended the vehicle, documented its condition and reviewed the relevant specifications and market information. The appraisal report was then presented for review and IA Reports coordinated with the insurer's appraisal representative.
The Resolution
After the independent appraisal and valuation evidence were reviewed, the appraisal parties reached agreement on a higher value. The valuation was revised from $8,193 to $13,750. The assignment was completed in approximately one week.
What This Case Demonstrates
Correct vehicle configuration, documented condition and relevant comparable selection can materially affect a total-loss valuation. Vehicles that look similar on paper can occupy different positions in the market.
