Challenge a Low Total-Loss Offer with Independent Evidence
When your vehicle is written off, the insurer obtains or prepares the valuation used to determine its settlement offer. IA Reports develops a separate, evidence-based opinion using vehicle-specific research, documented adjustments and, where appropriate, an in-person inspection.
Start before the claim becomes time-sensitive: Depending on the file, rental limits, storage arrangements and access to valuation documents may become important. An early independent review can identify valuation concerns and missing evidence before unnecessary pressure builds.
Why independent evidence matters
An insurer valuation may not fully reflect your vehicle's exact trim, options, mileage, condition, maintenance, upgrades or regional market. An independent appraisal provides a separate, documented valuation position that can be used to question unsuitable comparables, missing equipment or unsupported adjustments.
Why professional support can make the process easier
Reviewing valuation reports, finding suitable comparables, documenting condition and explaining vehicle-specific differences can be time-consuming. IA Reports organises the evidence into a structured appraisal so the valuation position is presented clearly and consistently.
What IA Reports provides
Review of the insurer valuation and offer
Verification of trim, equipment, mileage and condition
Relevant comparable-market research
Vehicle-specific adjustment analysis
Review of maintenance, repairs and supporting records
Photographic review and inspection where appropriate
A documented appraisal report and valuation conclusion
Submission support and explanation of next steps
A disagreement is not evidence. A strong challenge explains why the insurer's comparables or adjustments may be unsuitable and supports a different value with documented market analysis.
Common valuation problems we look for
Vehicle information errors
Incorrect trim, drivetrain or body configuration
Missing factory packages, options or equipment
Incorrect odometer or vehicle-history details
Weak comparable selection
Outdated, distant or materially different vehicles
Different trim, condition, mileage or equipment
Listings that do not reflect the relevant consumer market
Unsupported adjustments
Mileage deductions without a clear basis
Condition ratings that do not match available evidence
Equipment or maintenance not properly considered
Unclear settlement presentation
Tax, deductible or claim-specific items not clearly explained
Offer amounts that are difficult to reconcile to the report
Important documents missing from the review package
Our four-step appraisal process
01Complimentary review
We review the insurer's offer, valuation report and basic vehicle details to determine whether a formal appraisal may be worthwhile.
02Evidence and vehicle verification
We gather photographs, records and vehicle specifications, then verify trim, equipment, mileage and condition. An in-person inspection may be recommended where physical characteristics materially affect value.
03Market analysis and report
Relevant comparable vehicles are researched, screened and adjusted. The methodology, evidence and valuation conclusion are documented in a professional report.
04Submission and support
The report is provided for claim review, and we help the client understand the response and available next steps.
Send us the insurer's valuation before accepting the offer. We will review the file and explain whether an independent appraisal makes sense.
Important: An IA Reports valuation review or independent appraisal report is separate from the formal appraisal procedure under section 128 of Ontario's Insurance Act unless that statutory process is specifically invoked and the required appointments are made. The statutory process may involve an appraiser appointed by each party and an umpire. IA Reports does not guarantee a settlement increase or a specific outcome.
