Total Loss Appraisals

Independent, market-supported total-loss appraisals for vehicle owners across Canada, with A-to-Z support from valuation review through appraisal submission and adjuster communication.

Why Values Change

Small valuation errors can create a material difference.

Vehicle trim, drivetrain, mileage, condition, options, comparable selection and market adjustments can all affect the conclusion. When supported errors or market differences are identified and corrected, the resulting settlement can increase — sometimes significantly.

Before You Proceed

Is an independent appraisal worth reviewing?

Not every valuation concern requires a formal appraisal. A complimentary initial review helps determine whether the available evidence supports proceeding.

An appraisal may be worth reviewing when

  • Comparable vehicles do not properly match the subject vehicle.
  • Trim, drivetrain, factory options or equipment appear incorrect or incomplete.
  • Mileage or condition adjustments are unusually large or not clearly explained.
  • The vehicle is commercial, modified, collector, luxury or otherwise difficult to compare.
  • Credible market evidence suggests a material valuation difference.

A formal appraisal may not be necessary when

  • The issue is a simple factual error the insurer is prepared to correct.
  • Available market evidence broadly supports the existing valuation.
  • The potential difference is minor relative to the assignment scope and cost.
  • Important vehicle or market evidence is unavailable.

Total-Loss FAQ

Questions Vehicle Owners Ask Us Most

What does IA Reports review first?

We start with the insurer's complete valuation report and current written offer, then verify the vehicle, mileage, trim, equipment, condition evidence and the comparables/adjustments used in the valuation.

What if the insurer's comparables do not match my vehicle?

We identify the differences and research more relevant market evidence. Differences in trim, drivetrain, mileage, options, condition, seller type and location can all affect how useful a comparable is.

Do you handle communication with the insurer?

When authorized, yes. IA Reports can communicate the appraisal position directly with the adjuster and support the valuation findings through the appraisal portion of the dispute.

Is a higher settlement guaranteed?

No. Every file is different. However, when material valuation errors or supportable market differences exist, correcting them can materially change the resulting value.
